NHS Selection Process
Students inducted into the National Honor Society are selected by a five-member faculty council. Students meeting the following criteria are invited to apply for membership by completing a Student Activity Information Form and writing an essay:
- Must be a junior or senior.
- Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Must demonstrate an interest in community or school service.
(Please contact Renee Edwards at 618-0314, or send Renee an email at edwardsr@trinityacademy.org if you have questions.)
Once these requirements are met, the council then evaluates candidates on leadership, community service, and character.
A majority vote of the Council is necessary for selection. The Faculty Council solicits input from the entire faculty to evaluate a candidate’s leadership and character.
To Apply
During the summer, sophomores and juniors who meet the cumulative 3.5 GPA requirement are contacted and invited to complete a student activity form and write an essay on a given topic. Students are selected and inducted in September.
